Director's Message

 

The Hong Kong Branch of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) is established to promote the marine science and technology research and the sustainable development of the Greater Bay Area. The Hong Kong Branch will focus on the study of marine ecosystems, develop key technologies for strategic resource utilization in the South China Sea, explore new fronts for marine industry development, and promote marine economy in the Greater Bay Area.

The Hong Kong Branch will focus on the frontiers of ocean science and technology to address the key scientific and technological issues of sustainable development and exploration of marine resources in the Greater Bay Area. We aim to build the Hong Kong Branch into a first-class marine science and technology research center within 10-15 years.

We currently have more than 90 affiliated members from Hong Kong and overseas institutions in USA, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, and Israel. Up to now, 66 affiliated members have received research support from our Branch via our Open Collaborative Research Fund or Operation Fund.
