HKUST, Guangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Committee, and Innovation Academy for South China Sea Ecology and Environmental Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement in Hong Kong to jointly support the establishment of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Guangzhou) (“the Laboratory”). The “Hong Kong Branch” of the Laboratory was set up at HKUST to integrate the efforts of the Hong Kong's marine science and technology talents to participate in regional and national programs in the Greater Bay Area, in close collaboration with the Laboratory.

The appointee will be required to:

  • provide daily operational support to the Hong Kong Branch;
  • coordinate various events/activities such as seminar series, annual meeting;
  • prepare publicity materials including guidelines, booklet, and website content in both Chinese and English;
  • monitor the process of contract administration, accounts, quotation checking and payment of bills, etc.;
  • liaise closely with other departments/units and related external parties in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area for project collaboration;
  • provide secretarial services to committees, working groups, and visiting scholars; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by the Director or the Director’s delegates.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of work experience in project management.  The ideal candidate should have a proactive work attitude and the capability of multi-tasking; be a good team player with strong interpersonal skills; and highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.  A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required.  The appointee may need to work outside office hours. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
